Mandy Bachman Case
Mandy Bachman is a sort of renegade survivor advocate. She was trained to be a counselor but she isn’t licensed in Utah so we’re not sure what we can legally call her. Mandy has an impressive resume including a master’s degree and she claims she is certified in several areas of therapy, however, we can’t find evidence of that. Mandy started the Square Peg Ranch in Goshen, UT and offered equine therapy. Whatever she is, Mandy is tenacious. I met Mandy, her daughter, and a friend named Beth last year. They were telling me about the alleged ritual abuse that was happening in Goshen by city officials, leaders in the local LDS church, police and former firemen. We believed her story because other survivors had came to us reporting the same abuse by the same perpetrators. The whole reason that Lindsey, her daughter, contacted us was because she accused her ex husband of abusing their 3 year old daughter. Lindsey’s ex husband won custody of the child and Lindsey feared for her daughter’s life. The child is Mandy’s grandchild.
Now we don’t know why the ex husband was given full custody but we have a good idea. The ex husband is a current county jail guard with many connections within the Vernal Police Department. As is usually the case, ex husbands typically paint their ex wives as crazy, drugged out liars who don’t deserve to have custody of their children. And as usual, the corrupt judges that permeate Utah courts tend to side with the pedophiles in the state when these types of cases are presented. After all, the SRA perpetrators want to keep the children so that they can traffic and abuse them sexually. If Lindsey’s allegations are true, then this child’s life is at stake. This is where this gets interesting. Mandy hatched up a plan to have the child kidnapped. She was given advice from Relentless Hope and a former police officer to not do anything “crazy.” Well Mandy couldn’t help herself and she took the law into her own hands.
Mandy and Lindsey didn’t have money to hire an attorney to fight the custody issued by the court. There is a law in Utah that if a parent feels their child is being abused by the other parent, that parent can then “steal” the child and essentially run away. Don’t ask me which Utah code this is, I just know there is one. Mandy convinced two friends and one family member to pretend they were officials from DCFS with fake documents stating that the custody had been overturned and that the ex husband had to give up the child. The one male participant was wearing a gun. The three friends, under the “leadership” of Mandy went to the ex husband’s house at 10:30pm to take the child. However, when the three friends got there, the ex husband was waiting for them with his gun. Remember I said the ex husband is a current county jail guard? The three friends entered his house, supposedly without permission, to serve these fake papers. The ex husband immediately pulled out his fire arm and pointed it at the three friends. The friends ran through his house to exit from the back door. The ex husband fired his gun, missed the friends, and almost hit police officers who had came onto his property. Thank goodness no one was hurt. Anyway the three friends were handcuffed and taken to jail where they remain there to this day.
All the while this was happening, Mandy was out of town and trying to contact them by cellphone. When they didn’t respond, she knew something was up. Fast forward, the Vernal Police found out that Mandy was the mastermind behind the plan. She was eventually arrested and charged with aggravated kidnapping, aggravated burglary among other charges. By the way, she was also charged with extortion because she had threaten a woman in Arizona that if she didn’t give her one million dollars, she was going to rat her to the feds for participating in abuse and cover up. She had also made accusations that the Goshen City Mayor was involved and had written him a letter requesting hush money.
You can’t make this up. I think this may turn into a movie one day. But I have to ask myself, “What would I do to protect my grandchild?” I think I would do worse things to my son-in-law like shoot his privates off with my Glock. Mandy took a more humane approach, however, she didn’t do her homework because her actions landed her in jail for breaking several laws. I fully believe Mandy did what she did because she was desperate to save her grandchild, but I also think she thought she was smarter than everyone else. There is a high probability that Mandy will be going to prison, however, we are supporting her because we feel that her constitutional rights have been violated.
While in jail awaiting trial, Mandy has been mistreated by the county jail officials. She has been denied adequate food, medical care and her medication. She has has had an incompetent court appointed attorney who refused to ask for bail. That attorney talked her into making a plea of guilty when Mandy clearly didn’t understand the purpose behind it. Apparently she was told she would get a reduce charge and sentence but that wasn’t the case. Now she is trying to change her plea to not guilty but the courts have delayed that decision. Even the paperwork that the attorney submitted to the judge was wrought with inaccuracies. Mandy Bachman was referred to as “Mr. Perez” in the paperwork clearly indicating that the attorney simply copied and pasted from a different case and didn’t even bother to proofread it before submission. The judge appears to be biased and Mandy’s trial has been delayed again and again. Mandy now has a new attorney who appears to not be serving her best interests either.
So in response to this treatment, Buffy Snell organized a prayer vigil for Mandy to gain the attention of local officials and the court. She invited several speakers including me, Goel and Jason Preston. We captured in on video and now you can watch the rally to it’s conclusion for yourself. Please click on this link.
If you would like to help Mandy get justice, please write the judge on the her case, the Honorable Cameron Beech at the 4th District Court House in Provo, UT. Mandy may not have acted wisely in pursuing justice, but we think she deserves leniency because she was doing it to protect her grandchild which is a noble cause. She is not a harden killer, rapist or violent criminal. She is a grandmother who is fed up with law enforcement not doing their job. She is fed up with city officials not doing their job. She’s fed up with the denials and apathy in her community when it comes to child abuse. She is tired of inaction and we agree with her on that level.
